Yeah, I'd call that obsession. Someone on another forum said it the best...

Ask yourself this question. Do you think about it all the time? Is it whats on your mind when laying in bed before oyu fall asleep? Is it what you day dream about at school? If you're answering yes, then you need to take a break. Being consumed by a game is easy but not healthy. Yeah it is a great escape and stress reliever, but it can't be your life.

The best way to test, and something i did myself, is to just stop playing completely.
See if you're acting strange, see if you're thinking about the game. See if you're feeling the desire to play. Do you have the need to log in even though you don't know what to do? Do you get restless? Do you argue more often?
These are some of the indicators that tell you if you're addicted to the game. You can only notice them if you stop playing though. If you're having severe troubles while not playing the game, just fricking delete it for your own good. If however nothing really changes, you stay calm, you've got things to do and you're not constantly thinking about GW.. then by all means, go and play for all you like and make sure your attitude doesn't change.

You use xfire
You have been playing for a year
You have more than 400 hours logged
You state that every second of free time you play GW
You're posting in forums about the game

And you ask if your obsessed (translated means addicted). Obvisouly the answer to the question is Yes.
Now turn off your PC, go do your homework (your grades are slipping), go do your chores, go outside and play, check out the opposite sex sometime (unless you prefer the same sex, in hat case stop staring at my nuts).

I got in a sort of fight at school a few days ago, and was htinking by myself that a protective spirit or gladiators defense would be handy...

I don't know what to put in addicted. I feel pretty addicted, and I have played 300 hours the last 7/8 (not sure) months.

But you are pretty addicted I guess.

Yes I can relate.

Here's a thought though.

Most people spend the majority of their time (outside of work) looking for entertainment. Some people go to bars, movies, books, sports and I would dare say raising a family is enjoyable and by it's own rights a entertainment all of it's own.

MMO's such as GW is pure entertainment - I view it as like reading a book except I dictate the storyline. The wife and I have discussed this a few thimes and even though she's not a video game person at all. I still try to stress to her entertainment is entertainment.

So even though your obsessed - is it a bad thing??

Take Care..

You can still have a life, and play guild wars at the same time if you manage your time correctly. Its a good hobby and takes away the daily stress

I work from 4:45 AM- 1:15 PM Monday - Friday, and I go to school 3:00PM- 8 PM...play guild wars 9-11:30 PM.....

I have about 2800 hours on my account...now when we are talking about NO LIFE, its those players with 5000+ hours since release on April 28,2005.

I too am obsessed with GW. Luckily my wife understands most of the time and even approves at times as this allows her to watch the TV shows she likes without me harassing her about them. Of course, she likes PnP RPGs and anime too, so I am one lucky man.

If you leave the game on and go AFK it doesn't really count as game time played.

bug_out that sounds like my marriage too.
